About Me
Dr. William Lawhon is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist at The Vision Center at Akron Children’s Hospital, where he specializes in diagnosing and treating eye conditions in children. He completed his medical training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency at The Havener Eye Institute and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at UTSW Children's Medical Center Dallas. Dr. Lawhon joined Akron Children’s Hospital in 2012 and has since served as the Director of Quality and Safety for the Vision Center, ensuring high standards of care.
His clinical interests include strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity, eyelid disorders, cataracts, uveitis, and general pediatric ophthalmology and vision care. Dr. Lawhon is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and is actively involved in professional associations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Patients and families can expect a compassionate approach focused on the unique needs of children, supported by his extensive training and commitment to safety and quality.
