Dr. Vlad Diaconita

Dr. Vlad Diaconita is a retina specialist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He cares for adults with a wide range of retinal conditions, offering both medical and surgical treatments to preserve and restore vision. His clinical interests include diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusions. Dr. Diaconita earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in Neuroscience and Physiology from the University of Toronto and a Doctor of Medicine from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. He completed a two-year surgical retina fellowship at Columbia University and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In addition to patient care, he is active in research and education, speaking at national and international meetings and exploring the role of artificial intelligence in ophthalmic imaging.
