Dr. Veena Raiji

Dr. Veena Raiji is a vitreoretinal surgeon and uveitis specialist who serves as the Director of the Uveitis and Inflammatory Disease Section at the Department of Ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center. She focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and inflammatory eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, uveitis, and ocular sarcoidosis.

Dr. Raiji has co-authored numerous medical journal articles and textbook chapters on conditions such as hypertensive retinopathy, infectious scleritis, and sympathetic uveitis. She has been awarded research grants, including from the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness, to study quality of life outcomes for patients with ocular sarcoidosis and ocular trauma.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Raiji has provided ophthalmic care to underserved populations internationally. She believes in involving patients in their care, balancing their treatment goals with the protection of long-term vision and health.
