About Me
Dr. Todd Altenbernd is an Associate Clinical Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona, where he serves as the program director for the South Campus Ophthalmology program. He completed his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia and then pursued a fellowship in glaucoma, which has been the focus of his clinical and research interests.
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Altenbernd has worked in a variety of practice settings, including private multi-specialty groups, ophthalmology-specific multi-specialty practices, and solo practice. He now brings his expertise to a university-based setting, where he focuses on medical glaucoma and general ophthalmology. His research interests include glaucoma drainage devices, tonometry, and novel low-cost devices for monitoring glaucoma.
Dr. Altenbernd is dedicated to teaching and has received multiple teaching awards from the University of Arizona Department of Ophthalmology. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is actively involved in training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
