About Me
Theresa M. Long, MD, is a cataract and comprehensive ophthalmologist at the John A. Moran Eye Center at University of Utah Health and serves as the institution’s first ophthalmic hospitalist. She provides clinic- and hospital-based eye care, performing cataract surgery and managing a wide range of eye conditions for patients in Salt Lake City and surrounding communities.
As an ophthalmic hospitalist, Dr. Long devotes much of her practice to caring for medically complex or critically ill hospitalized patients with emergent and urgent ophthalmic problems. She evaluates patients at the University of Utah Hospital and at Moran Eye Center clinics in Stansbury, Redwood, and on the main campus, collaborating with other hospital services to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary care.
Dr. Long completed her ophthalmology residency and an academic anterior segment and cataract fellowship at the John A. Moran Eye Center after earning her medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, where she also completed a pathology fellowship and undergraduate studies in biological sciences and Spanish. She is active in resident and fellow education as a lecturer and admissions committee member and maintains a strong commitment to outreach through service in local community clinics, on the Navajo Nation, and in Tanzania.
