Meet Dr. Tala Marie Kassm

Dr. Tala Kassm is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and cataract treatment. She joined the Medical University of South Carolina in 2018, where she advanced her surgical skills and became certified in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. Dr. Kassm is dedicated to holistic patient care, having established the Glaucoma Support Group to foster community and education among patients.

She earned her medical degree from A.T. Still University in Arizona, receiving the Outstanding Student Award and the Robert F. Crawford Scholastic Achievement Award for her excellence. Her ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine involved performing hundreds of cataract surgeries, including the use of toric and multifocal lenses to enhance vision independence. With extensive experience in procedures like LASIK, she has completed over a thousand intraocular surgeries.

Committed to both patient and physician education, Dr. Kassm takes time to thoroughly explain diagnoses and treatment plans. She also volunteers with community organizations focused on eye health and providing glasses to those in need.
