About Me
Dr. Solly Elmann is an award-winning, board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical care of retinal diseases. His practice focuses on the latest treatments for conditions like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal detachments. He is actively involved in research, with interests in advanced therapeutics for retinal disease and laser photocoagulation therapy, and he shares his findings through national and international presentations and numerous publications.
Dr. Elmann completed his medical degree through an accelerated BA-MD program at SUNY Downstate, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at SUNY, serving as Chief Resident and receiving the EC Lazzaro Excellence in Teaching Award. His fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery was under the mentorship of internationally renowned specialist Bert M. Glaser at the National Retina Institute. He is an assistant professor at the St. John's ophthalmology residency program and holds memberships in several leading professional organizations. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is fluent in Spanish, Hebrew, and Arabic.
