Dr. Shawn Sell is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced training in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery. He provides thorough examinations with attention to detail and starts with practical, conservative treatments whenever possible, moving to surgical options only when they are appropriate. Dr. Sell encourages patients to take an active role in decisions and makes sure each person clearly understands their condition, options, and expected recovery. His clinical interests include cornea and anterior segment disease, partial- and full-thickness corneal transplantation, and small-incision cataract surgery. He also cares for conditions such as Fuchs’ corneal dystrophy, neurotrophic keratopathy, and pterygium. Dr. Sell completed ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School and a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship at Cornea Consultants of Albany–Albany Medical Center.
