Dr. Saraswathy Ramanathan

Dr. Saras Ramanathan serves as the Division Chief of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at UCSF Department of Ophthalmology. She specializes in the surgical treatment of cataracts, with a particular focus on complex cases that require advanced surgical techniques.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ramanathan is a nationally recognized medical educator. Her research and publications on surgical simulation and cataract surgery teaching methodology have influenced how surgical ophthalmology is taught across the United States. She has been recognized with numerous teaching awards for her contributions to resident education.

Dr. Ramanathan's research interests include cataract treatment and surgical education. She is dedicated to advancing both patient care and the training of future ophthalmologists.
