Dr. Roy Swanson

Dr. Roy Swanson is a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Banner – University Medicine in Tucson who provides both medical and surgical eye care for adults and older adults. He completed medical school at Case Western Reserve University, followed by an internal medicine internship and an ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where he served patients with a wide range of eye diseases and surgical needs.

At Banner, Dr. Swanson offers comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgery, femtosecond laser–assisted cataract surgery, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, along with ongoing management of chronic conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. He is known for his calm, thorough communication style and for taking time to answer questions, review imaging, and discuss surgical options so patients feel comfortable and informed. His goal is to help people protect and improve their vision using safe, evidence-based techniques tailored to their goals and daily activities.
