About Me
Dr. Pineda is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in corneal disorders, external disease, refractive surgery, and ocular trauma. He treats complex cases referred after second or third opinions and re-operations. His clinical interests include cornea disease, cataract, refractive surgery, and corneal cross-linking.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pineda leads international efforts to expand affordable eye care, serving as Director of the International Council of Ophthalmology fellowship at Mass. Eye and Ear and working with Orbis International and other organizations to train ophthalmologists in developing countries. He also works to introduce the artificial cornea (Boston keratoprosthesis) in Ethiopia and Sudan.
Dr. Pineda holds the Thomas Y. and Clara W. Butler Chair in Ophthalmology and is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in ophthalmology.
