About Me
Dr. Kersten is a highly skilled oculoplastic surgeon practicing at the John A. Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City. He provides comprehensive care for adults and children with congenital and acquired conditions affecting the soft tissues and bones around the eyes, including eyelid malpositions, orbital fractures, and tear duct disorders. In addition to reconstructive surgery, he offers cosmetic eyelid and upper facial rejuvenation procedures such as blepharoplasty. Dr. Kersten is board certified in ophthalmology and has served as chief of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCSF. He is deeply committed to teaching and serves as program director for Moran's oculoplastic fellowship. Patients value his thorough explanations, compassionate approach, and surgical expertise.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kersten has authored over 200 publications and contributed to leading textbooks on eyelid, orbital, and lacrimal surgery. He has been recognized with multiple honors, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Lifetime Achievement Award and the ASOPRS Foundation's Rick Anderson Award for Surgical Innovation. He has devoted significant time to global outreach, training ophthalmologists and performing surgeries worldwide.
