Dr. Richard Akers

Dr. Akers is an ophthalmologist providing comprehensive eye care with a focus on cataract surgery and the treatment of eye disease. He performs eye surgeries and laser procedures to address a range of vision concerns.

Dr. Akers earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed an internship in internal medicine at Greenville Memorial Hospital, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Since joining Morganton Eye Physicians in 2017, Dr. Akers has continued to offer comprehensive ophthalmic services to patients in western North Carolina, helping them manage cataracts, glaucoma, corneal conditions, and other vision-related issues.
