About Me
Dr. Richard Lewis is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical ophthalmology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lewis earned his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University. He completed an internship and residency in family practice at Ventura County Medical Center in California before practicing general medicine in Oregon. He later returned to the United States to complete a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lewis has served as the medical director of Afghanistan's national eye program for eight years, where he trained Afghan physicians and treated patients at University Eye Hospital in Kabul. His experience includes practicing medicine with an NGO in Afghanistan, where he helped establish community development programs.
