Meet Dr. Renfeng Xu

Dr. Rena Xu is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist and cataract surgeon with Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Associates (CEENTA), caring for patients in Charlotte, Concord, and Huntersville. Her expertise spans corneal disease, cataract surgery, refractive procedures, and complex anterior segment surgery. She performs femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and offers advanced options such as corneal cross-linking, corneal transplantation (including DMEK/DSAEK/DALK, K-Pro, CTAK, PKP), secondary IOL implantation and exchanges, and artificial iris implantation.

Dr. Xu received her medical degree from Nanjing Medical University and earned a PhD in optics from Indiana University, where her research included multifocal intraocular lens design. She completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital. During residency she set the national record for the most primary phaco cases (490), with a large proportion of premium lenses. She enjoys partnering with patients to match surgical and lens choices to the way they use their eyes every day.
