About Me
Dr. Pooja Bhat is an ophthalmologist who specializes in inflammatory diseases of the eye. She focuses on the diagnosis and management of infectious and non-infectious ocular inflammatory conditions, including scleritis and various forms of uveitis. Her particular areas of interest include posterior uveitis conditions such as Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease, Behcet’s disease, and sarcoidosis, as well as infectious retinopathies and white dot syndromes like birdshot chorioretinopathy.
Dr. Bhat has extensive research experience in systemic immunosuppression for ocular inflammatory conditions and herpetic eye diseases. Her current research explores seasonal variations in autoimmune diseases, imaging with optical coherence tomography (OCT), and the management of complex uveitic cataracts. She completed her residency and fellowship training at Northwestern University and additional fellowships in ophthalmic pathology and uveitis research.
