About Me
Dr. Pedro Lopez is the Director for Retina and Vitreous Diseases at the Center For Excellence In Eye Care. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist who completed his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he focused on macular surgery. Dr. Lopez then completed an internship in internal medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School and an ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Lopez is a professor and founding chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. He is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. His clinical and research interests focus on diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous.
