Meet Dr. Audina M Berrocal

Dr. Audina Berrocal is a pediatric retina specialist and a world-leader in the medical and surgical management of retinopathy of prematurity and pediatric vitreoretinal disorders. She has been instrumental in advancing the use of fluorescein angiography in pediatric vitreoretinal disorders, improving outcomes for her patients. For over 20 years, she has provided weekly care in an inner-city neonatal intensive care unit, working to prevent blindness among premature infants.

Dr. Berrocal was the first surgeon in the United States to treat the youngest patient with the first FDA-approved gene therapy, and she continues to offer this novel, curative surgical treatment for children with Leber’s congenital amaurosis. She is also dedicated to teaching and supporting women in the field of ophthalmology and retina. Her expertise and compassionate care have earned her a place on the Ophthalmologist Power List 2022.
