Dr. Patricia Nelson

Dr. Patricia (Patty) Nelson is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 10 years of experience in eye surgery. She specializes in cataract, refractive, and oculoplastic surgical procedures, providing personalized care to patients in the Alexandria community.

After serving eight years of active duty in the U.S. Army, Dr. Nelson worked at Texas Tech University in El Paso, where she taught and served a diverse border population for five years. She is dedicated to a patient-centered approach, guided by her mission to serve others and a commitment to treating patients as she would wish to be treated.

Dr. Nelson is actively involved in national surgical standards, serving on the ophthalmic advisory council and young fellows governing council for the American College of Surgeons. She recently moved to Alexandria with her family and is excited to bring her extensive surgical and clinical experience to the Minnesota Eye Institute.
