Meet Dr. Omar Suresh Punjabi

Dr. Omar Punjabi is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat Associates (CEENTA) in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a retina specialist with fellowship training in retinal diseases and vitreo-retinal surgery. Dr. Punjabi practices at the SouthPark, Matthews, and Concord offices.

Dr. Punjabi earned his medical degree with honors from King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he served as chief resident, and a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Cole Eye Institute of the Cleveland Clinic. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and has received numerous awards, including the Charlotte Magazine Top Doctor award in 2020.

His clinical interests include medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, such as retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, ocular trauma, and uveitis. Dr. Punjabi is actively involved in clinical research and serves in leadership roles for clinical trials focused on macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
