Dr. Miguel Materin

I am an ocular oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with ocular tumors, including both benign and malignant tumors of the eye. With more than 20 years of experience, I focus on rare eye cancers where prompt and correct diagnosis is essential for successful treatment.

My primary aim is to enhance the prognosis of these rare diseases, striving to save lives, conserve the eye, and preserve vision. At Duke Health, I am part of a large team dedicated to ocular oncology. I collaborate extensively with specialists from Duke Eye Center and Duke Cancer Center, treating both adult and pediatric patients to formulate optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies. I speak English and Spanish, allowing me to assist patients from various backgrounds.
