Dr. Michael Hawes was a board-certified ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeon who practiced in Denver for decades. He was a valued member of the Fante Eye & Face Centre from 2015 until his retirement in 2020. Dr. Hawes combined extensive experience with a compassionate approach to provide medical and surgical care for a wide range of conditions affecting the eyelids, orbit, tear ducts, and surrounding facial structures. He treated issues such as drooping eyelids (ptosis), eyelid malpositions (entropion, ectropion), orbital fractures and tumors, thyroid eye disease, tearing problems, and provided eyelid reconstruction after trauma or skin cancer removal.

Dr. Hawes graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He completed postgraduate training in ophthalmology and ophthalmic plastic surgery at the University of Colorado and the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Hawes maintained a private practice in Denver since 1980 and served as a Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he taught and supervised residents and fellows for over 25 years.
