About Me
Dr. Matthew W. Mosteller is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has specialized in cornea and external disease of the eye for over 25 years at Premier Medical Eye Group. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Upon returning to Mobile, he became the first board-certified subspecialty-trained cornea and refractive surgeon in the Mobile area.
Dr. Mosteller earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and then an ophthalmology residency at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans. He further specialized with a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Louisiana State University Eye Center under world-renowned cornea specialist Dr. Herbert E. Kaufman. His undergraduate degree in science was completed at Florida State University, where he was an NCAA swimmer.
Dr. Mosteller is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. In recognition of his contributions, the University of Alabama School of Medicine established the Matthew W. Mosteller, M.D. Endowed Fellowship in Corneal and External Disease to train future cornea specialists. He is committed to providing advanced care for corneal conditions and refractive surgery.
