About Me
Dr. Matthew Clary is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, laser vision correction, glaucoma management, and diabetic eye disease. With over 12,000 cataract surgeries performed for patients in the Midlands, he provides comprehensive adult eye care, including refractive lens exchange and medical retina treatments for conditions such as macular degeneration. Dr. Clary takes an individualized approach to care, matching each patient's visual needs with advanced technology.
Dr. Clary completed his ophthalmology residency at Texas A&M University/Scott and White Hospital, where he set a program record for cataract surgeries. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of South Carolina Honors College, graduating magna cum laude. Currently serving as Chairman of Ophthalmology at Providence Hospital in Columbia, he joined The Eye Center in 2008 and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons.
