About Me

Dr. Matthew R. Ramsey is an ophthalmologist practicing comprehensive ophthalmology at Northwest Eye, where he has been a valued team member since 2010. He focuses on helping patients achieve clearer vision through the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of cataracts and other refractive errors, such as LASIK. Dr. Ramsey finds great fulfillment in building relationships with his patients and learning about their lives beyond their eye conditions.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Olaf College and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Ramsey completed a transitional year residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby, Pennsylvania, and his ophthalmology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and maintains active membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology.

Inspired by his father, who is also an ophthalmologist, Dr. Ramsey began his career as an ophthalmic technician in his father's office. Today, he sees patients at Northwest Eye's Golden Valley, Maple Grove, St. Anthony, and Wayzata locations. Outside of his practice, he is an avid triathlete and enjoys spending time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and on the lakes around the Twin Cities with his wife and two children.
