About Me
Dr. Matthew Pihlblad is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. He serves as the fellowship director for the pediatric ophthalmology fellowship and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Pihlblad sees patients of all ages, from infants to older adults.
His clinical interests include complex strabismus in both adults and children, as well as retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Pihlblad is actively involved in research, focusing on innovative strabismus surgery techniques and the use of advanced technology in treating eye muscle disorders. He has presented his work at international, national, and regional scientific meetings.
Dr. Pihlblad is a member of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is committed to medical education and training the next generation of eye care specialists.
