Meet Dr. Maryo Cenk Kohen

Dr. Maryo Kohen is a pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus specialist at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He also serves as an Assistant Professor for the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences.

Dr. Kohen’s practice focuses on routine and medical ocular examinations of children and adults with strabismus. He has special expertise in retinopathy of prematurity, management of amblyopia, pediatric ocular disease, and caring for special needs children. His clinical approach integrates the latest evidence-based techniques.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Kohen is active in clinical research, having focused on drug-eluting polymers for children after ophthalmic surgery. He has received research grants from the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation. He also lectures at continuing education events and mentors medical students and residents.
