Dr. Mary Fischer

Dr. Mary Catherine Fischer is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with more than 30 years of experience. She provides medical and surgical eye care at Eye Doctors of Washington, specializing in cataract surgery, LASIK, and dry eye treatment. Dr. Fischer performs a range of clinic-based procedures including LipiFlow, chalazion removal, and treatment of lid lesions and eyelid cancers.

Dr. Fischer brings a distinguished military background to her practice. She served for over 24 years in the US Army as an ophthalmologist, brigade surgeon, and paratrooper, and led medical missions to Honduras and Peru providing eyelid plastic and cataract surgical care. Her military service complements her clinical expertise with a disciplined approach to patient care.

She completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, earned her medical degree from George Washington University Medical School, and performed her internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and ophthalmology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Fischer is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
