Meet Dr. Mark L Mayo

Dr. Mark L. Mayo is a Houston-based ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and LASIK vision correction. He is recognized as one of the nation's top cataract surgeons and was an early pioneer of bladeless cataract surgery using the LenSx Laser in Houston. Dr. Mayo provides a range of laser vision correction procedures including PRK and iLASIK at the Eye Center of Texas. He brings extensive experience in advanced cataract and refractive surgery to his patients.

Dr. Mayo has served as Chairman of Surgical Specialties at Bayshore Medical Center and as Medical Director for Opticare. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was elected Chief Resident, and his internship at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
