About Me
Dr. Maria Castillejos is an ophthalmologist with over four decades of experience, having opened her first practice in 1983 and co-founding the Castillejos Eye Institute Medical Group in 1997. She is a board-certified retina specialist who completed her fellowship at Harvard University under the renowned Dr. Charles Schepens.
Dr. Castillejos focuses on medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, offering advanced care for conditions such as retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. She serves as the Medical Director of IDOC and has been featured in specialty journals and as a speaker at national and international meetings.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Castillejos is an international physician who is board certified by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Consejo Mexicano de Oftalmologia. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and she remains actively involved in clinical research aimed at improving treatments for vitreous hemorrhage and other retinal conditions.
