Dr. Luis Lu

Dr. Luis Washington Lu is an internationally recognized double board-certified ophthalmologist, certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgery. He is the Medical Director at Eye Consultants of Arizona, a state-of-the-art complex eye surgery consultation facility serving patients from Phoenix and surrounding cities. Known as a vision correction expert, Dr. Lu specializes in complex eye surgeries and has been listed as one of the “Top Eye Surgeons” in the country, earning the respect of his peers as the “Doctor’s Doctor”.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lu has been honored with numerous awards, including the Barraquer award from the Keratomileusis Study Group, the Nikon award, and multiple awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and various international ophthalmology societies. He is also a seven-time recipient of the American Medical Association Achievement Award. His dedication to advancing eye surgery is evident in his design of award-winning surgical instruments, authorship of three textbooks, over 25 book chapters, and approximately 500 continuing medical education articles.

Dr. Lu completed his medical degree with honors at the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in 1975. He then pursued formal ophthalmology training at the HHC Division of The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York, followed by a fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. He has held teaching appointments at Columbia University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and is an Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at his alma mater.
