Meet Dr. Lorne Schlecht
About Me
Dr. Lorne Schlecht is a board certified Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon with over 30 years of experience, spending eight years in training, research, and practice at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is nationally recognized for his research on eye diseases and is part of a select group of lens and refractive eye surgeons, having received specialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at Moorfield’s Royal Eye Hospital in London, England, and in eyelid surgical techniques at The Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Schlecht has performed over 50,000 successful eye surgeries and specializes in small incision – no needle and no stitch lens procedures for more rapid healing and improved results. He has been honored with three national awards for research to prevent blindness and pioneered the use of lasers for bladeless eyelid surgery. Dr. Schlecht is a member of the American Academy and European Societies of Ophthalmology.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Schlecht has a keen interest in health and nutrition and enjoys spending time outdoors gardening, hiking, kayaking, and camping with his wife and two dogs. He is also an accomplished pilot and values the trust his colleagues and staff place in him to perform surgery on their family and friends.
