About Me
Dr. Kristen E. Dunbar is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculofacial surgery, providing both reconstructive and cosmetic care for patients in Fairfax and Gainesville. Her expertise covers a range of eyelid and periocular conditions, including ptosis, ectropion, entropion, and lesions, with a focus on blepharoplasty for aesthetic enhancement and functional repair after skin cancer removal. She is dedicated to facial rejuvenation, helping patients achieve natural, refreshed results that boost confidence.
Dr. Dunbar completed a prestigious two-year surgical fellowship accredited by the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, gaining extensive experience at top medical centers such as Columbia University, Weill Cornell, and NYU Langone. Following her fellowship, she served as an attending surgeon at Omni Eye Services and continued teaching residents and fellows at NYU and Bellevue Hospital. Her medical education includes a Doctor of Medicine from Emory University and residency at Tufts Medical Center, where she was chief resident.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Dunbar is actively involved in ophthalmology research, having published numerous papers and book chapters, and she frequently lectures at national conferences. Outside of medicine, she enjoys tennis, hiking, and spending time with her family.
