About Me
Dr. Justis Ehlers is a vitreoretinal surgeon and ophthalmologist at the Cole Eye Institute of Cleveland Clinic, where he holds the Norman C. and Donna L. Harbert Endowed Chair of Ophthalmic Research and directs the Center for Excellence in Image-Guided Surgery and Advanced Imaging Research. Dr. Ehlers is deeply involved in advancing retinal care through research. He leads multiple clinical trials and has pioneered the use of intraoperative optical coherence tomography (OCT) to improve surgical outcomes. His work in novel imaging techniques aims to discover biomarkers and enhance visualization during vitreoretinal procedures.
In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr. Ehlers has authored more than 180 scientific articles and co-edited the widely used Wills Eye Manual. He is an active leader in professional societies, serving on the American Academy of Ophthalmology Council and the American Society of Retina Specialists Board of Directors.
