About Me
Dr. Joseph Demer is a pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus specialist who treats children and adults with complex eye movement disorders. His clinical expertise includes adult and pediatric strabismus, nystagmus, and other ocular motility conditions. Dr. Demer also provides specialized care for pediatric craniofacial conditions that affect the eyes.
As the Arthur L. Rosenbaum Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology and a professor of neurology, Dr. Demer brings a unique multidisciplinary approach to eye care. His background in biomedical engineering informs his research on the anatomy and biomechanics of the eye muscles, which contributes to advanced surgical and treatment strategies for his patients.
Dr. Demer sees patients and performs ophthalmic surgery at the Stein Eye Institute in Westwood. He is actively involved in training the next generation of eye surgeons through his leadership in fellowship and residency programs.
