Dr. Joel Hunter

Dr. Joel Hunter is a board-certified ophthalmologist and one of the nation’s leading cataract and refractive surgeons. Born and raised in Central Florida, he completed his prestigious fellowship at Durrie Vision and went on to found Hunter Vision, where he performed thousands of vision correction procedures. Dr. Hunter is one of a small group of ophthalmologists who hold dual board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences.

He joined Magruder Laser Vision in 2021 to expand access to advanced vision correction throughout Central Florida. With over 15 years of exclusive focus on refractive surgery, Dr. Hunter has been a trainer for other surgeons and is recognized for introducing several pioneering techniques to the region, including robotic laser cataract surgery and IV-free cataract surgery. His personal commitment is evident in having performed vision correction on his own family members, reflecting his philosophy of treating every patient with the same care and trust.
