Dr. Joanne Francis is a cornea and external disease specialist with a focus on cataract surgery, intraocular lens placement, and modern corneal transplantation techniques. She is highly experienced with endothelial keratoplasty (including DMEK) and has a particular interest in helping patients with Fuchs dystrophy regain comfortable, high-quality vision. With each patient, Dr. Francis emphasizes education, shared decision-making, and a plan that fits individual goals and daily life. Dr. Francis completed ophthalmology residency at Stony Brook University and a cornea and external disease fellowship at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Akron. She has published research and book chapters and continues to prioritize patient-centered surgical care and long-term outcomes.
