About Me

Dr. Joan Draper is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in vision rehabilitation for patients with visual impairment. She focuses on helping individuals with low vision by utilizing a variety of Low Vision aids and computer technology to enhance their independence. Dr. Draper draws from her own personal experience with vision loss to guide patients in finding the most effective methods and devices for their specific needs.

Dr. Draper completed her undergraduate education at Dartmouth College with honors and then earned her medical degree and ophthalmology training at McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, Canada. She was in private practice for 18 years in Southbury and Danbury, Connecticut, and has been with The Eye Care Group since 2010. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Draper has served as past president of the Danbury Hospital medical staff and as a past member of their board of directors.
