About Me

Dr. Jithin Yohannan is a glaucoma specialist who provides medical, laser, and surgical treatment to help protect vision over time. His practice focuses on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and new glaucoma surgical devices, as well as both routine and complex cataract surgery. He also treats challenging anterior segment problems that can occur after trauma or prior eye surgery, including dislocated intraocular lenses (IOLs) and iris or pupil defects.

Dr. Yohannan earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from New York University and then received his MD and MPH from Johns Hopkins University. He completed ophthalmology residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute and pursued fellowship training in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery at the University of Toronto before returning to Wilmer. He also leads research focused on using artificial intelligence to improve glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring, with an emphasis on making testing more reliable and identifying patients at higher risk of progression.
