About Me
Dr. Jennifer Thorne is an internationally recognized ophthalmologist specializing in uveitis and other immune-mediated eye disorders. She is the chief of the Division of Ocular Immunology at the Wilmer Eye Institute and directs the Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic for conjunctival diseases. Dr. Thorne treats a wide range of inflammatory eye conditions, including uveitis, white dot syndromes such as birdshot chorioretinitis, multifocal choroiditis, and punctate inner choroiditis, as well as juvenile idiopathic arthritis-related uveitis.
Patients can expect a comprehensive and thorough evaluation from Dr. Thorne, who is known for her expertise in managing complex inflammatory eye diseases. She works closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans, often involving immunosuppressive therapy when needed. Dr. Thorne is deeply committed to advancing the field through her research and provides care that is both compassionate and informed by the latest scientific evidence.
Dr. Thorne holds a joint appointment as professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and sees patients at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is board certified in ophthalmology and has been recognized with numerous honors for her clinical excellence.
