About Me
Dr. Jean Kassem is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in orbital surgery, oculoplastics, reconstructive surgery, and neuro-ophthalmology. He brings a multicultural perspective to his practice, having been born in Germany and raised in the United States.
After completing medical school at Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg in Germany, Dr. Kassem returned to the U.S. for his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans. He then undertook an extensive two-year double fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, focusing on neuro-ophthalmology, orbital disease, and oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. During his time at Ohio State, he also served as an assistant professor of ophthalmology.
Dr. Kassem is pleased to bring his specialized skills to the Bellingham community and the broader Northwest Washington region. In his free time, he enjoys diving, sailing, snowboarding, weight lifting, and photography. His international travel and interest in other cultures help him relate to a broad range of patients. He is fluent in English and German.
