About Me
Dr. James Anthony Stefater is a retina specialist who diagnoses and treats diseases of the retina and vitreous, with particular interest in complex surgical cases. He also cares for patients with common sight-threatening conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, focusing on practical plans that preserve vision and support long-term eye health.
Dr. Stefater completed ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship training at Massachusetts Eye and Ear at Harvard Medical School. He earned his MD and PhD through the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Cincinnati, where his doctoral research focused on retinal blood vessel development.
He is active in national ophthalmology societies, has authored numerous publications, and has presented widely. He also helps advance new approaches to retina surgery aimed at reducing the post-operative burden for patients.
