Dr. Harold Brooks

Dr. H. Logan Brooks is the founder of Southern Vitreoretinal Associates and views the practice of medicine as a ministry. He is dedicated to helping patients see more clearly, both physically and spiritually. A recognized surgical innovator, Dr. Brooks developed ILM peeling for macular holes in 1992 and was the first to report its success in retinal detachment with PVR, a standard of care now adopted worldwide.

Dr. Brooks has been at the forefront of retinal care, including the use of medications injected into the eye. He authored an early publication in 2004 on growth factors in diabetic retinopathy and serves as the lead investigator for many clinical trials. His leadership in research keeps the practice at the forefront of retinal care in the region. Additionally, Dr. Brooks serves as Vice President of US Retina, collaborating with over 300 doctors to improve the management of retinal diseases through big data analysis.
