Meet Dr. Francis Charles Jansen

Dr. Francis "Chuck" Jansen is an experienced ophthalmologist who has performed more than 35,000 surgical procedures. Recognized by Who's Who as one of the most experienced eye surgeons in the United States, he has also been named a "Top Doc" by his peers in southwest Missouri. Dr. Jansen is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He came to Springfield in 1990 after training at the National Eye Center in Washington, D.C., and has returned there to lecture on his surgical innovations.

Dr. Jansen specializes in modern cataract surgery, including laser-assisted and premium lens procedures, as well as microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), corneal transplants, strabismus repair, and eyelid plastic surgery. He is a member of the clinical faculty of Cox Family Practice Residency and other area medical schools.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Jansen has a passion for international missions. He has worked with the Ministry of Health in Tanzania to develop eye specialty clinics and helped establish an eye surgery hospital in Maswa, Tanzania, where a training program teaches African and missionary doctors cataract surgery.
