Dr. Esteban Peralta Chacon

Dr. Esteban Peralta Chacon serves as house staff in ophthalmology at the Duke Eye Center. He is currently completing his residency in ophthalmology at Duke University School of Medicine, following an internship in internal medicine-ophthalmology. Dr. Peralta Chacon earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine.

His clinical and research interests encompass a range of eye conditions, including retinal diseases treated with laser therapy, corneal infections such as Acanthamoeba keratitis, and neuro-ophthalmological disorders like temporal lobe encephalocele. He has also studied ocular injuries in orbital fractures and collegiate sports.

Dr. Peralta Chacon actively participates in professional conferences, presenting on topics like ocular injuries, infectious retinitis, and keratoconus detection. His work contributes to advancements in eye care and patient education.
