About Me
Dr. Elaine Downie is a clinical assistant professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Michigan Health's W.K. Kellogg Eye Center. She specializes in oculoplastic surgery, caring for conditions that affect the eyelids, tear ducts, orbit (eye socket), and surrounding structures. Patients see her for problems such as drooping eyelids, blocked tear ducts, orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease, and trauma-related injuries. She provides both surgical and non-surgical treatments with a focus on protecting vision, restoring function, and improving comfort. Dr. Downie sees patients at the Oculoplastic Surgery Clinic in Ann Arbor and at the Brighton Center for Specialty Care.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 2017, completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin in 2021, and pursued fellowship training in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, finishing in 2023. Dr. Downie is board-certified in Ophthalmology.
