Dr. Vinay Aakalu

Dr. Vinay Kumar Aakalu is a board-certified ophthalmologist and professor specializing in oculoplastic surgery. His clinical practice focuses on surgical and reconstructive procedures involving the eyelids, orbit, and tear duct system. Dr. Aakalu's expertise includes performing enucleation and evisceration surgeries.

After completing his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Aakalu finished his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in oculoplastics and reconstructive surgery at the same institution. He sees patients at the Oculoplastic Surgery Clinic within the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan Health.
