Meet Dr. Derek Wills Delmonte

Dr. Derek DelMonte is a specialist in corneal diseases, refractive surgery including LASIK, and small-incision cataract surgery, focusing on the medical treatment and surgery of conditions affecting the surface and front of the eye. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Cornea Society.

Dr. DelMonte received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed his ophthalmology residency at Duke Eye Center in Durham, NC. He further specialized through a fellowship in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. He joined Carolina Eye Associates in 2021 after serving 10 years in academic teaching roles at Duke University and the University of Colorado, where he received the Duke Golden Globe Award for Excellence in Resident Education.

In his practice, Dr. DelMonte sees patients in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, providing care for diseases of the cornea, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, keratoconus treatment, and refractive procedures. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, gardening, and running, and his wife is also an ophthalmologist with the practice.
