Dr. David Guyer

Dr. David Guyer is an ophthalmologist with a distinguished career in academic medicine and ophthalmic innovation. He previously served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at New York University School of Medicine, where he was involved in the education and advancement of eye care professionals.

Dr. Guyer co-founded Eyetech Pharmaceuticals and played a pivotal role in the development and commercialization of Macugen, the first FDA-approved anti-VEGF treatment for wet age-related macular degeneration. This breakthrough therapy has significantly improved outcomes for patients with retinal diseases. His leadership in the biotechnology sector, including as CEO and Chairman of Ophthotech Corporation, has contributed to the advancement of ophthalmic therapies.
