Dr. Corey Waldman

Dr. Eileen Bowden is a board-certified ophthalmologist at the Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute who specializes in glaucoma, cataracts, and anterior segment disorders. She cares for both adults and children, offering medical, laser, and surgical options matched to each patient's needs. Dr. Bowden serves as an assistant professor and Associate Residency Program Director in the Dell Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, where she mentors trainees and helps shape curriculum. She earned her MD from Baylor College of Medicine, completed a transitional internship at Dell Medical School, ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, and glaucoma fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Her academic interests include outcomes of glaucoma surgery and improving patient education and policy around vision care. Patients appreciate her clear, compassionate communication and the time she takes to explain diagnoses, risks, and recovery so they can make confident decisions.

Dr. Rebecca Chen is a glaucoma and cataract specialist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and sees patients in Dallas and Frisco. She provides both medical and surgical care for people living with glaucoma, and has particular expertise in caring for patients who also need cataract surgery or combined procedures. Dr. Chen earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute, where she served as chief resident. She then pursued fellowship training in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute as a Heed Fellow before serving on the faculty at the University of California, Davis and later joining UT Southwestern. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter on ocular infections and glaucoma. She enjoys partnering with patients to explain complex eye diseases in clear language. Outside of work, she likes exploring local restaurants, hiking, traveling, trying new hobbies, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Troy Gurney is a glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon who cares for patients with the full spectrum of glaucoma and complex anterior segment disease. He offers both medical and surgical treatments, including combined cataract–glaucoma procedures, and tailors every plan to a patient’s vision goals and lifestyle. Patients value his clear explanations, practical guidance, and calm, team-based approach to long-term eye health. After earning his M.D. at UT Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Gurney completed ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine and advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. At UT Southwestern, he sees patients in Fort Worth and Dallas and works closely with optometrists and referring physicians to streamline care and recovery. His interests include challenging diagnoses such as pseudoexfoliation and plateau iris, and he is experienced in complex lens and anterior segment surgery. Outside clinic, he contributes to peer-reviewed research and enjoys teaching the next generation of eye surgeons.
